भगवत गीता के 9वें अध्याय के 26वें श्लोक में, भगवान कृष्ण कहते हैं: "पत्रं पुष्पं फलं तोयं यो मे भक्त्या प्रयच्छति। तदहं भक्त्युपहृतमश्नामि प्रयतात्मनः॥"

अर्थ: जो भक्त मुझे प्रेम और भक्तिपूर्वक एक पत्ता, एक फूल, एक फल या जल अर्पित करता है, मैं उसे स्वीकार कर लेता हूँ।

Whoever offers to Me (the Supreme) a leaf, flower, fruit or even water, devotionally with a pure and disciplined mind, I consume (accept) that devotional offering with great relish.
